Jesus on Wealth and Money, Part II
Many people are familiar with some of the sayings in what are called the “Beatitudes,” or the sayings in which Jesus identified the people who are truly blessed. Jesus’ list of people who are blessed represented entirely different categories of people than most human cultures would think of as those who are blessed, both then and now.
Beatitude #1: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
I asked Jesus: “Jesus, what does this mean?” The reply I received from Jesus was this:
“Poor in spirit refers to those who live according to the principle of non-attachment to form, whether that form be clothing, money, or other goods. It is not that they cannot receive or own goods, it is that their attitude is one of non-attachment, or gratitude, sharing, and service to the highest good above all else.
“When one lives in a perpetual state of gratitude, trust, faith, and non-attachment to the material world, one lives in a state of grace which vibrates with the energies of heaven.”
Thank you, Jesus!
What this means to me is that we can either focus our attention on the attainment of material well-being, or we can focus our attention on living in a “state of grace,” which does not preclude working and earning money, but it is a question of motivation, focus, and intentions of gratitude and service. We can work, but when working from within a “state of grace,” the only way to maintain that state of grace is by serving the highest good for others, for the planet, for Divine Source, and for ourselves. In other words, our primary motivation is the good we accomplish, not the money we earn.
When we live and work in a “state of grace,” vibrating with peace and love energy, we tend to draw all things to us according to what is needed. So, living in a “state of grace,” there is no need to worry about being provided for abundantly according to our needs, because our energy will more closely match the divine energy of abundant love.
