What is Real?
I love how this question was famously asked and answered in the children’s book, The Velveteen Rabbit. The question seems to have arisen as I was working with a client a few weeks ago. As she was experiencing her boyfriend’s family, and wondering about the nature of her relationship with them, the question of what is real arose.
So often, in our ego-based human cultures, we deal with pretense. People put on facades and project out to the world who we would like the world to believe we are. Relationships are defined in certain ways that give us either a sense of control or a sense of comfort.
What does the world of Spirit have to share with us on the subject of what is real?
Well, as I asked for the blessing that this young woman needed to receive at the end of energy healing (something I virtually always do), what came to me was:
The root of reality is truth, consciousness, and love.
This brings us back to the concepts of Shiva and Shakti: Energized Consciousness, and Conscious energy, and adds two elements – Truth and Love. The energy of our Source is loving energy, and the consciousness of our Source is Truth.
Knowing the truth is so helpful. I have met many people who hide from the truth one way or another, or who hide the truth from others. To some extent, I believe we all do this.
But being brave enough to face the truth of our own being, the truth of someone else’s being, and the truths of our lives is essential on our spiritual paths.
How can we know what is real if we don’t find the courage to face the truth? Facing the truth brings us closer to what is really real – the world of Spirit, and that world is so loving, we can hardly imagine it.
The reality of this love is that it is something which never binds us, but from which we can never escape. We always exist inside this field of loving consciousness, but sometimes our vibration is so low that we cannot feel it, and we feel separate from it.
What is real? Truth, love, and consciousness. The more we choose to open our consciousness to both Truth and Love, the more our consciousness resonates with the Divine consciousness of Shiva and Shakti – the very essence and power of the Universe.
May you be filled with this Truth and Love, so that you may live within it forever.
Love and Light,
