Redemption and the Higher Self

There are stages on this path to Self-Realization, and right now, I am going through a stage of purifying and releasing emotional attachment (or so I was just told!).  This generally entails dealing with relationships in which we have high emotional attachment to outcomes.  In other words, this stage can feel really tough, emotionally speaking, because we get to learn non-attachment to significant life events, accomplishments, and relationships – not just non-attachment to mere objects, pleasures, and possessions.

I had the privilege and the honor of getting to assist one of my energy healing clients with this process recently, as well.  She called for a last-minute appointment in the evening due to work-related stressful relationship issues.  (Can you relate to working in a dysfunctional work environment, where gossip can ruin people’s working relationships, and possibly even their careers?)  She requested that I do an intuitive energy reading on her, which is something I usually only do to a small degree.  I could already see, though, that she was glowing with more love and confidence in her spirituality than she did about six months ago.  This glow was from and around her face and head.  So, I said ‘yes.’

What happened then was an amazing experience of being given perception of what she is going through, her sense of self in her throat chakra (well, I usually sense that for most people), but then awareness of how she had reacted to things as a little girl, awareness of what she was being called on to do, and how she needed to respond to those around her.  It was truly a whole spiritual life reading, not just a reading of her energy levels or chakra flow (which is what normally comes along with my giving someone energy healing).

Part of what was so amazing was that I clearly could sense that she was being asked to live at a Christ-like level with people, focused entirely on what they need, rather than on what she needs or desires, even in her career.  I realize that’s a lot to ask of anyone, but I shared with her how I have also gone through that stage of self-sacrifice in career, and that I am currently going through a stage of being asked to be there for someone without receiving what I would like to receive from this person.

Please understand that, as part of healthy psychology, I normally recommend that people ask for what they need and desire in personal relationships, and that I support people speaking up in their work environments for what they need there as well, when appropriate.  This is another level of living – a higher consciousness situation that goes beyond the stage of asking for psychologically healthy relationships in our lives.

The vision that came through me for her was that she was being asked, metaphorically, to walk on burning coals with a jug of water which she was to use to put out the fires under the feet of her co-workers.  The lesson in this for her is multi-faceted:  non-attachment to ego self in terms of knowing that all of her accomplishments are made possible by the Divine Presence within her; non-attachment to career outcomes; non-attachment to how others treat one (with respect or not); and empathy and compassion for others, even when they are not treating her well, because it just means that they are in deep emotional pain.

I know these lessons from my own life experience, and all I can say is that Buddha and Christ paved the way on all of these issues by setting the example themselves.  Think about all that Buddha gave up, having been a prince, in order to bring compassion into the lives of others.  Think about how Christ let others disrespect him and mistreat him, and yet showed compassion and forgiveness for them all.

Each of us, on our way to Self-Realization, may well be asked to live these sorts of situations, unless we have already done so in a previous lifetime.

Today, I paused for a moment of meditation, and am grateful to say that I felt Divine connection.  As I was lifting up a question something along the lines of “why are we asked to do such difficult things?” the answer that I received from the Divine Presence was this:

“I ask nothing of you for myself.  I ask for your (plural – meaning for all human beings) sake.  I need nothing.  It is my creation that needs redemption, and so I ask you to be my Presence, and without asking anything of anyone, bring redemption to my offspring.  How else will they know my love, unless you love them for me?  How else will they receive, without having to give in equal exchange, unless you give to them unconditionally?  How else will they heal and become whole, unless you forgive them?  How else will they know to find me, unless they see me in you?  Give, without asking to receive, for I will provide for you.  Do, without asking for it to be done for you, for I will do and be with and for you.  You have no true needs that will remain unmet, for you are with me.  Choose my Presence within you, and all your needs will be fulfilled.  Focus then, your life each day, on the needs of others, for that is the Divine Tao, the Divine Purpose, the Divine Path, the Way of Divine Presence upon the earth.  So be it.”

As I said to my client, when I had complained to God about what I had been wanting (and not getting) from someone that same day, through my crown chakra I was invited to rise up to join the Ascended Masters, who were saying, “You know what, it does not matter.  What you want so badly, does not even matter.  Come up here – we’re having a party!”

On the higher level of consciousness, there is always a sense of completeness and unity with the Divine, which is redemption.  When we can raise the vibration of our thoughts and intentions, we redeem our whole selves by living as our Higher Selves.  Redemption and Self-Realization are essentially one and the same thing.  No one else can do it for us, but they can pave the way, and lead the way, as both Christ and Buddha (and others) have done.

May you find your redemption in the higher realms, where, apparently, they will throw you a party!  Down here, we are asked to bring that very party to others – not necessarily a pleasure party, but a party of incredible love and acceptance and celebration of each and every person on our path.  And yes, a little (or a lot) of pleasure just might be involved, even though it’s not the point.  Life is a celebration of redemption – union with the Divine in and through all situations, in all times and places.  So, let’s celebrate, because Shiva and Shakti are present within us, and they are lovingly dancing through life with us!

Love and Light,

About selfrealizationtherapy

I am a healer, life coach, author, and spiritual teacher. While I am ordained in the Christian tradition, I have also studied Eastern spiritual disciplines and practices, including Raja Yoga Meditation; Intuitive Coaching; Reiki; Falun Gong; and other forms of energy healing for both people and animals. I am available for distance healing and spiritual coaching via phone, Skype, WhatsApp, or Facetime; please email me at: to schedule a session. My goal is to assist you in connecting with your Higher Self to find fulfillment, peace, health, and happiness in life. I typically work with people for about six weeks, and then they either take classes with me and advance more, or simply go their happy way. While I cannot guarantee results, many clients find that in a few short weeks, more is accomplished than could be with years of traditional talk therapy. Born on the equator in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, I grew up moving back-and-forth between Africa and the United States my whole childhood and youth. We lived in three different countries in Africa, and three different states in the USA. I now live in Maryland, close to Washington, DC. I was widowed at the age of 28 when my 34-year-old husband died suddenly of a cerebral aneurysm that hemorrhaged, leaving me with an infant and a toddler. This crisis led me to believe that God loves us even when "bad" things happen, and also led me to pursue spirituality and become a minister. In 1996, thanks to "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramhansa Yogananda, and a meditation class called Raja Yoga, I started on an Eastern spiritual path, a journey which included becoming a healer and a mystic. On Thursday, May 27, 2010, I experienced what I call an Enlightenment Vision, in which I ascended and was blessed by Ascended Masters of many faiths: Master Lao Tzu, Mother Mary, Mary Magdalene, Jesus Christ, Lord Buddha, Paramahansa Yogananda, High Priest Melchizedek, Lady Kwan Yin, Master Usui, and then by the Seven Archangels of the Seven Rays. After this vision, the teachings in Higher Consciousness began. Apparently, my crown chakra was opened, and direct contact with the Ascended Masters has been possible ever since. My message to everyone is: this is possible for you to achieve as well, although getting there is not necessarily quick or easy. With a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University Divinity School, a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Texas Health Center at Houston, and a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Texas Christian University, I perceive a unity in my readings in Eastern religions and in Biblical studies. As a result, I believe the original message of Jesus Christ was and is a call to Self-Realization, which may also be called following The Way (a term used in the book of Acts by very early "Christians," although they did not call themselves "Christians;" they called themselves Followers of the Way. The Way, or the Tao consists of the practice of peace and love in every moment, honoring the Divine Presence within ourselves as well as within others. The Way of early Christianity was a spiritual practice which similarly focused not on the material world, but on the practice of Divine Presence within the earthly realm. When we practice The Way, or The Tao, we become one with Divine Peace, Love, and even bliss. When we attain this, we experience the "Kingdom of God" or Reign of God, within ourselves, Nirvana or possibly Samadhi. Achieving this Way within each of ourselves is the only way we will be able to usher in the Reign of Divine presence among us all here on earth. The ultimate goal of The Way, and of Self-Realization, is the attainment of unity with the Divine Consciousness, or Buddha-Consciousness or Christ-Consciousness, within, and beyond our normal mortal mind. This Unity-Consciousness is eternal, but begins in the here and now. May it be so.
