Before I meditated, I was attempting to focus on my opening prayers, and sipping my tea. My mind kept getting distracted. So, one of the “Higher-Ups” (as I fondly like to refer to the Ascended Masters and Angelic Beings who give me guidance) said to me:
“Stop focusing your mind on the graveyard of the past as well as the graveyard of the future. Instead, plant your mind in the garden of the Now.”
Wow! What powerful advice. I had not thought of focusing on the future as focusing on a graveyard, but that is exactly what we do when we start worrying about the future; it becomes a graveyard where all our fears become buried underground to fertilize the soil of what will bloom in future seasons of our lives.
The past being a graveyard seems more obvious to me, and I think, to all of us, simply because the past is over-and-gone, done with – can’t change a thing about it. But to think of the future as a graveyard was new to me.
Of course the message is that life blooms and grows in the fertile soil of the present moment, so why not focus on what is needed now. When our thoughts and our intentions our focused on the Now, our energies are also focused on the Now, and so our present moment becomes more fully energized to give birth to new, good, loving things, events and relationships.
So, in this week in which we celebrate the harvest, let’s cultivate the garden of the Now, by planting ourselves firmly in it!
